Alan Marroquin is a Guatemalan artist and photographer born in 1986. He uses photographs to talk about social issues, childhood, mental illness, collective consciousness, and introspective thoughts in his work.
His images are a mixture of documentary and cinematographic style that look like fragments chosen from a broader vision as if they were dreamlike situations regarding feelings where the importance are the facial expressions, spaces, and textures, representing with his shots a state of mind and revealing the projection before his own characters, many of them based on film or animation.
His main work is Portraits and he is interested in the surreal and imaginary world but with influence in his reality which is his place of origin “Guatemala and Latin America”.
