ABOUT “EN ESTE PROMO”
I come from a family of nine. In my family, we ate together for lunch and dinner. Few excuses were important enough to justify doing anything else at those moments. It was then that we would discuss the events of the day, our opinions on general topics, and family matters. The tone was often didactic but often it was humorous and loud.
Among my siblings, there were different personalities. It was common that the attention was always grabbed by the ones with the strongest character. Still, getting the attention of the table was a challenge, and talking louder was not a solution. If I wanted to participate in the conversation, I had to learn to thread my way through the micro-silences between comments and gain the attention of the table.
Today, I notice once again that as things were at the table, so are they in social groups. Now more than before, we are repeatedly participating in a universal conversation, a constant digital tabletop, with the audience and number of participants infinitely larger than at my home table, although much more intelligent, critical, mocking, and relentless.
I also notice how in this traffic of digital messages, before my eyes, there is the opportunity for an instrument to deserve and enjoy the attention of an audience.
“En Este Promo” is born as an experiment that responds to this opportunity. “En Este Promo” seeks to add the attention generated by each participant that is published to, in this way, merit the attention of a growing audience.
“En Este Promo” presents a selection of refined work made by creatives around the world. In the form of a digital publication, as a catalog, without a castrating concern about the content of the portfolios, it publishes and hopefully with a balance between playfulness and formality. It is focused on a critical target group, with a taste for photography, art, design, and aesthetics in general. Its added value lies in the opportunity the audience will have to connect and collaborate according to the skills, interests, personal affinity or geographic location of the participants included.
If I may use the dinner analogy, “En Este Promo” seeks to be a brief but valuable sentence in the incessant conversation of this great digital conversation.
